Criteria and reasons

Criteria

Each review needs a title, a research question, and at least one inclusion and one exclusion criterion. Add each criterion on its own line.

You can enter up to 50 inclusion criteria and 50 exclusion criteria, with up to 2,000 characters per criterion. Before screening, Abstractus organizes your criteria into rules by theme and checks each rule separately.

Detailed reasons

Each paper receives a reason for its screening decision. By default, this is a short sentence identifying the criteria that determined the decision.

• Off: short reasons for every paper. This is the default.
• Included only: a detailed reason for each included paper.
• All papers: a detailed reason for every paper.

The detailed reasons setting changes only the explanation, not the decision or its accuracy. Detailed reasons cost nothing extra, but may take longer to generate.

Papers that can't be screened

Abstractus retries papers that fail during screening. If a paper still cannot be screened, it is included for manual review with the reason "This study was included for manual review because it could not be screened." These papers count toward the job's cost.
