Sites Abstractus never touches

The kinds of sites the browser extension ignores, so private pages are never read.

What the extension ignores

The browser extension works only on pages for the papers you asked to get, and pages you save yourself. It does nothing on these kinds of sites:

  • Sign-in and single sign-on pages
  • Email
  • Banking and payments
  • Password managers
  • Cloud consoles
  • Code hosting
  • University and library sign-in
  • Patient data: EDC systems, EHRs, patient portals and regulatory submission portals
  • Team files and messaging
  • Local network addresses
  • Paste sites and link shorteners

To see the list with the reason for each, open the extension's settings. The card is called Sites Abstractus never touches.

Each kind of site has a one-line reason.

How it looks when it's off

On these sites the toolbar button turns grey and shows off. Hover over it to see the kind of site.

The button is grey, with an off badge.

Click it and a notice says Abstractus is off on this site. It does not read, save or send anything. See the list opens the settings.

The notice only shows text. It saves nothing.

Where page content goes

The extension sends page content only to your own Abstractus Desktop app, on your computer.

Each browser has its own key. You can disconnect it at any time in the desktop app.
