Let it fetch papers for you
Start a Get papers run in the desktop app. The extension opens each paper in your browser, one at a time.
What happens in a run
Start a run from Get papers in Abstractus Desktop. The article Get papers with Abstractus Desktop shows how to choose the papers.
For each paper, the desktop app tries a free copy first. If there isn't one, the extension opens the paper in a separate browser window. It keeps the PDF your own access allows, then goes to the next paper.
The control window
A small window called Getting papers shows where the run is. It says Getting 12 papers for Abstractus Desktop, the count, and the paper's title.
Pause holds the run. Continue resumes it. Stop ends it. Nothing runs unless you started it.
If your library uses a proxy, open Library proxy in this window and enter its host name.
Pacing and limits
Papers open one at a time, with a wait between them. You set the seconds between papers, and the papers per publisher each day, in the desktop app. Papers past a publisher's daily number are skipped until tomorrow.
When a publisher asks for a check
Some publishers ask you to prove you're a person. The run waits on that paper and the control window says Needs you: finish the check in the open window.
You do the check yourself. We never solve it for you. If the publisher sends a warning instead, we stop asking that publisher. Its other papers are left for you to open yourself.
